NELIA SABATER-ERENO

Nelia started her undergraduate studies at the University of the Philippines. She
was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics. After
graduation, she became an integral part of the University of the Philippines
Faculty. She finished her Masters of Science degree in Mathematics and
finishing her PhD degree in Statistics both in the University of the Philippines.

Nelia transferred to UP Cebu when she got married to Dr. Bong Ereno, who has
been the Associate Dean of UP Cebu. They are blessed with a son named
Paolo who is currently in Grade 3 at the University of San Carlos Grade School.
They are presently residing at Cebu City, Philippines, the Queen City of the
South.

Nelia has served as a mathematics and statistics professor at the University of
the Philippines for over 21-years now. She basically performs three important
functions of the university; namely, teaching, conducting research work and
doing various extension activities. She also conducts statistical consultancy.
For her, 24-hours a day is not enough in her job!

“Work without leisure will make a person nerd.” So, Nelia tries to find time also
for leisure trips around the country and abroad. Once in a while she goes
swimming or watches great movies. She loves to play ping pong, badminton,
tennis and bowling.
